As an International Affairs major, we provide you with a number of opportunities to study and intern abroad. This allows you to connect theories and strategies you learn in the classroom to practical, hands-on global experiences with governmental, nonprofit, and private agencies.

Study and Intern Abroad

As an International Affairs major, you enjoy the opportunity to study abroad for an extended period of time, directly connecting our classroom curriculum to hands-on, global experiences. You may live overseas during the summer months or the entire academic calendar year. We offer a number of internships, both international and domestic, to complement your studies and provide you with the experience needed to start a successful career using your major.

Research

Our curriculum requires you to conduct research projects on a wide range of original topics that interest you, allowing you to uncover the layers of connections between global and domestic relations. Mercer’s expert faculty will help you learn the basics of academic research, from a traditional thesis to practical solutions designed to resolve a global challenge. You will also have the opportunity to present your research at a number of professional and academic conferences.

Postgraduate Opportunities

Our International Affairs program prepares you for the rigorous challenges you will face in a graduate program and in the workforce. Seventy-seven percent of graduates from our International Affairs program have completed or are currently pursuing at least a master’s degree.
