Program Requirements

About the Major

The biology and psychology departments collaboratively offer the interdisciplinary major in neuroscience to allow students to explore the intersection of psychology and biology. Courses in this major require students to explore neuroscience from the cellular, systems and behavioral levels. The required courses will also foster skills in critical thinking, science writing, research and oral communication. The neuroscience major requires 64 credit hours.

Honors in Neuroscience

Students may earn honors by fulfilling the following:

  • Discuss the honors option with your advisor during the semester in which you hits 90 credit hours
  • Complete your degree with a 3.50 GPA in neuroscience and a 3.25 GPA overall
  • Complete at least four hours of approved research with a 3.00 or above
  • Write a research paper of publishable quality
