As an Art major at Mercer University, you will cultivate creativity and discover how the visual arts impact our culture and your worldview. Mercer’s Art major provides you with a strong foundation to develop your visual communication skills and become a multi-disciplined, highly-employable artist. Our small class sizes mean you will have individualized attention and feedback from our faculty, allowing you to grow in your talent. During your time at Mercer, you will develop a comprehensive portfolio showcasing your wide range of skills and ability to clearly communicate complex ideas. This portfolio can be used for admission to a graduate program or to jump-start your career as a visual artist.
Our Art degrees
Mercer University’s Art major offers both a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree. Our B.A. program focuses on studio art skills as well as art history, from the prehistory to contemporary criticism. You will learn the connection between art and other disciplines including health care, education, and political and social interactions. The B.F.A. major is an interdisciplinary program where you will work across wide-ranging disciplines including:
