Build a professional network
Mercer University offers Sociology majors internship opportunities that are designed to connect career opportunities to classroom skills and theory. Internships provide you with a deeper understanding of the coursework and allow you to build a strong professional network. This network can open doors for potential jobs after you graduate. Our faculty regularly recommends students to a number of internship opportunities that will benefit their career goals.
If you would like to complete a Sociology internship and receive three hours of course credit, you are required to meet a number of requirements, including:
- 100 minimum hours of on-site work
- Reflection papers
- Additional reading assignments
- Final paper and presentation
Previous Sociology majors have completed internships with local organizations and agencies such as:
- American Red Cross
- Bibb County Department of Family and Children Services
- Goodwill Industries
- Loaves and Fishes Ministries
- Macon Housing Authority
- Macon Volunteer Clinic
- Salvation Army
- United Way
- WellCare
