Build a professional network

Mercer University offers Sociology majors internship opportunities that are designed to connect career opportunities to classroom skills and theory. Internships provide you with a deeper understanding of the coursework and allow you to build a strong professional network. This network can open doors for potential jobs after you graduate. Our faculty regularly recommends students to a number of internship opportunities that will benefit their career goals.

If you would like to complete a Sociology internship and receive three hours of course credit, you are required to meet a number of requirements, including:

  • 100 minimum hours of on-site work
  • Reflection papers
  • Additional reading assignments
  • Final paper and presentation

  • Bibb County Department of Family and Children Services
  • Goodwill Industries
  • Loaves and Fishes Ministries
  • Macon Housing Authority
  • Macon Volunteer Clinic
  • Salvation Army
  • United Way
  • WellCare
