Initiate Global Change
There are billions of people across the globe who lack access to safe living conditions, adequate water and sanitation, nutritious food, and dignified work. Mercer’s global development studies program aims to change the world by equipping you with knowledge and skills to address these issues.
The global development studies program is a multi-disciplinary major that examines current and past efforts to improve the human condition. You will learn how these efforts are designed, funded, and implemented. You will study how past attempts have faltered and debate ways to improve them. Our curriculum and hands-on experiences are designed to equip you with the intellectual and practical tools necessary to tackle the complex obstacles that impair people’s ability to live the lives they value. Upon completion of the program, you will be able to:
- Apply your intercultural knowledge to real-world problems
- Engage in debates on international issues
- Lead in a global context
- Provide innovative solutions to complex problems
- Think critically about the world around you
Designed for Motivated Students
To produce change in the world, you must be full of compassion, motivation, ingenuity, and drive. Our experienced professors will equip you with the knowledge necessary to work with people from all walks of life and devise new solutions to long-standing problems. The global development studies curriculum will open your eyes to the world around you, and our outside-the-classroom experiences will challenge you. If you’re ready to work toward change in the world, we welcome you to the global development studies program.
