Explore the intersection of gender and power
Explore the history of gender roles while discovering how our society is shaped by them. You will use this knowledge to gain new perspectives and promote equality. While the major is called Women’s and Gender Studies, men are welcome to study in this program as well. We provide a comprehensive course of study that empowers you to understand a diverse set of views on a number of topics that impact your daily life. This is an interdisciplinary major, meaning you will discover a wide range of study topics and how each relates to gender, including:

Preparing you for the next level
Our courses are designed to challenge your assumptions and encourage independent thinking. We also provide guided research opportunities unmatched by other undergraduate programs. All Women’s and Gender Studies majors are required to complete Methods in Gender Studies Research (WGS 201). In this course, you complete a gender-based research project with a faculty member working by your side — an opportunity typically only offered to graduate students.
