Professional Interests
Erin McClenathan, Ph.D., teaches art history courses at all levels, from introductory surveys to upper-level seminars, and covers topics from prehistoric cave painting to contemporary visual culture. Her research on avant-garde print cultures and interactive spectatorship has appeared in The Space Between, InVisible Culture, and as part of the collaborative digital project Mina Loy: Navigating the Avant-Garde. With Andrea Gremels, she co-edited a special issue of Dada/Surrealism, titled “Prismatic Fringes: Periodicals and the Borders of Surrealism” and also contributed an article, “Close-Up: Documents and La révolution surréaliste in 1929.” Her essay “DYN’s Archival Visions of Surrealism in Mexico” is part of the 2024 catalogue for Archive of Dreams, the inaugural exhibition of the SKD Archiv der Avantgarden.
