Professional Interests

Ziki’s research focuses on the intersection between life histories, history of memory, history of emotions, and the history of the economy and state building. Her focus on market women’s narratives in Zimbabwe allows her to challenge historical writing and inquiry by underscoring the importance of women’s subjectivities or perceptions and conceptions of their experiences. Her current project focuses on advancing debates on how market women have effectively used their life histories to claim space in the history of the country.

At Mercer, she teaches global history, introduction to African history, gender and women’s history in Africa, major themes in African history, and integrative studies.

Other Interests

When not working, Ziki enjoys playing volleyball and watching soccer and movies.
