Dr. Kevin F. Karl

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Kevin KarlDr. Kevin F. Karl earned his B.A. from the University of Memphis in Psychology then completed his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi in Clinical Psychology. He comes to Mercer following five years employed at Blackburn College in Illinois as a professor of psychology. His research interests focus on understanding and operationalizing faith-based interventions and therapies for faith-related presenting problems and psychopathology in mental health practice. His current research is an investigation of Christian therapists and their perceptions of what constitutes Christian therapy. The eventual goal of this research would be to develop and test new, faith-specific, evidence-based treatments for use by therapists for clients with faith-related issues. Dr. Karl is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies.
